Recognized as home to one of Cape Cod’s most prolific fishing fleets, Chatham is well known for its fresh fish and seafood. While many restaurants feature the “catch of the day” and other local favorites, there is no lack of other fare, including Italian, French, Continental, Asian and, of course, good old traditional American.
This weeks spot is the Impudent Oyster a wonderful fish restaurant.

“The appetizers are so interesting I have been known to get 3 of them and call it a meal. this last time I got kale salad ( small which was plenty), a bowel of Tuscan chicken tomato soup and a delicious red wine – they have a well stocked bar and well trained bartenders. my friend got a salad and added fried scallops which looked delicious. if you get a chance to sit at the bar you’ll be given space but also included in some of the banter– it is a fun crowd.”
“We love the “oyster”! They have great Vermont butternut bisque! My husband always gets the Nantucket scallop sandwich! The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere! It’s a must if you come to Chatham!”
“A wonderful meal – the chef has talent. It was fully booked, we benefitted from a no show. The man at the bar and his team were very friendly and efficient. The interior of the restaurant is just ok, what we discovered with delight in our plates more than made up for that. Our (tall male) waiter was not very communicative, but professional enough. What a first class chef. We had oysters Rockefeller, then Seafood Atlantis and Salmon, all delicious. The wines by the glass were very good. Warmly recommended. Too bad we live on the other side of the big pond, otherwise we would be back a few times a year.”
